"Unlocking Language Potential: A Creative Educational Journey"

Nomination Description

Our school implements innovative teaching methods designed to cater to each student’s unique learning style. Upon registration, we assess whether students are Visual, Auditory, or Kinaesthetic learners, allowing us to tailor our approach throughout the year.

We have developed the L.E.W.I.S. vocabulary teaching method—an acronym for Learn, Experience, Write, Identify,Sort—to enhance vocabulary acquisition, particularly for junior levels. This method uses custom-made online tools and exercises, such as word-searches and puzzles, encouraging students to identify new words, create sentences, draw associations, and connect words with synonyms or antonyms, especially benefiting those with learning difficulties.

Grammar instruction is brought to life through engaging stories and animations. Characters like Supergirl help students intuitively grasp grammatical structures, for instance plurals and the Simple Present tense, making grammar an enjoyable and memorable experience without relying on rote memorization.

We also employ innovative and creative special writing techniques to strengthen students’ written expression. These techniques encourage imaginative storytelling, structured writing exercises, and personalized feedback, helping learners develop their voice and improve coherence, grammar, and style.

To develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, our teenage students engage in debates on diverse topics, while younger students create and present themed projects for which, we frequently use works of famous artists, in order to entice them to be even more creative while using the material they have been taught.This approach encourages even beginner learners to start speaking English from their earliest lessons.

We lead a global pen-pal network involving 44 schools across 35 countries, promoting communication skills and cultural exchange. Students also practise speaking through realistic scenarios, such as shopping dialogues, enhancing their everyday language proficiency.

By analyzing newspaper and magazine articles in class, we nurture critical thinking, judgement, and argumentative skills, essential for writing and personal expression. Additionally, through animations and videos, students explore the works of Shakespeare and other literary icons, fostering a love for poetry and literature.

We further enrich cultural understanding through organized outings to theatrical performances of renowned British and American plays. Additionally, every summer, we offer 8-day educational trips to UK universities, where students attend language lessons and immerse themselves in British culture through various activities.

For students who face language-learning challenges, we provide personalized tutorial sessions to improve their skills and boost their confidence. Additionally, our custom-designed board games offer a fun and interactive way to reinforce grammar and vocabulary.
